Information

Issa Daoud Al-Issa (1878-1950 AD, born in Jaffa) is a Palestinian journalist, poet , and source for the daily newspaper Palestine .

His educational career

He studied at the Freres School in Jaffa, continued his education at the Kaftin Orthodox School in northern Lebanon , and then completed his studies at the American University of Beirut . He was fluent in four living languages: English, French, Turkish, and Arabic, his mother tongue.

His achievements

He published the daily newspaper Palestine in the city of Jaffa in 1911 AD with his cousin Yousef Al-Issa . It was the first and longest-running Palestinian daily newspaper to be published regularly. It and its fellow Palestinian newspapers called for resistance to British and Zionist colonialism. [6]
Issa participated in many Palestinian conferences, as well as in the Bloudan Arab Conference.

Events in his life

He was exiled to Anatolia because of his call on the Ottoman Empire not to engage in World War I. He resided in Yepkazar until the Arab Revolt Army led by Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein was able to liberate northern Syria. In 1920, he returned to Jaffa and reissued the Filastin newspaper. [7]
His newspaper was suspended, and he himself was put on trial several times for his patriotic stances [6] . He also contributed to the founding of the National Defense Party.
He left Palestine for Lebanon in 1938 AD , but his newspaper, Palestine, did not stop publishing.
He died in Beirut in 1950 and was buried there.  [8]

His positions

Issa chaired some Orthodox conferences held in Palestine and Transjordan, and was elected as Vice Chairman of the Orthodox Executive Committee.
He was also elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the Arab Nation Bank.
