Suad Abdul Raouf Qarman (born 1927) is a Palestinian poet and writer who lives in the village of Ibtin , Haifa District . She completed her secondary education at the Nazareth Nuns School and obtained a BA in English and Education from Oranim College . She worked in journalism as an editor for the women's column in Al-Youm newspaper and on television.

She also worked as a teacher of English, Arabic and Islamic religion at Ibtin Elementary School until the early 1990s, when she resigned from teaching. She is one of the founders of the Palestinian Writers Association in 1980. She was elected as the head of the administrative body of Al-Midan Theater for five years. She writes poetry and prose, and her poems range between classical and free verse. Her writings have been published in many newspapers and literary and cultural magazines. 

Her life 

The writer Suad Abdul Raouf Qarman was born in Haifa in 1927. She is the sister of Abdul Rahim Qarman, known as “ Abed Qarman ”. In 1937, she traveled with her mother and siblings to Beirut while her father remained in Haifa, to pursue her education at Miss Amina Al-Maqdisi Elementary School. After a year, the mother decided to return with her children to Haifa. Suad joined the Carmelite Nuns School in Haifa and learned Italian.

Then, in 1940, she joined a school in Gaza City and received her education from the Arabic language teacher, Miss Issam Al-Husseini. This was the first motivation that led to her attachment to Arabic poetry and her memorization of many Mu’allaqat and ancient Arabic poetry. She then returned again to Haifa where she received her secondary education at the Nazareth Nuns School .

She got married at the age of sixteen and began to educate herself through reading . With the advent of the Nakba (1948), she remained with her family in the city of Haifa, and worked as a teacher at the Ibtin Elementary School. She then continued her studies and obtained a BA in English from Oranim College for Teacher Training in 1981. In 1990, she submitted her resignation from teaching and limited her activities to poetry, culture, and theater .

She chaired the administrative board of Al-Midan Theatre in 1998.
