Khairiya Qasmiyya (born 1936 in Haifa , Palestine – died 5 August 2014 in Damascus )  was a late Palestinian writer , historian and researcher .  She was born in Haifa in the midst of the Great Palestinian Revolt, and then took refuge with her family in Damascus in 1948.  She obtained a PhD in Modern and Contemporary Arab History in 1975 from Cairo University.  She worked as a consultant in the Documents Department at the Palestinian Research Center in Beirut, a lecturer at the Institute of Arab Research and Studies in Cairo, and a professor in the History Department at the Faculty of Arts, Damascus University . She was also a member of the Arab History Writing Committee at the same university.
