Information
Samih Masoud is a Canadian writer , novelist and economist of Palestinian origin living in Montreal , Canada, and directs the Canadian Centre for Middle Eastern Studies.
His life
Samih Masoud was born in Haifa , Mandatory Palestine, in 1938. He studied at Al-Burj School in Haifa, then emigrated with his family to the town of Barqa , northwest of Nablus , following the Nakba of 1948. After completing his secondary education, he traveled to Yugoslavia to complete his university studies, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Sarajevo , then a master's degree in economics from the same university in 1965, and a doctorate in economics from the University of Belgrade in 1967. Samih Masoud immigrated to Canada in the early 1990s, settled in Montreal, and obtained Canadian citizenship.
His career
Samih Masoud worked as an economic advisor in several Arab countries, and participated in a number of committees affiliated with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States . He was also a member of the Jordanian Writers Association . In 1990, Samih Masoud was elected President of the General Union of Palestinian Economists in Kuwait. He also participated in a number of Arab and international conferences and seminars in the field of oil, development, investment, finance, and Arab economic integration. Samih Masoud currently works as Director of the Canadian Center for Middle Eastern Studies in Montreal, Canada. He founded, along with a number of Arab intellectuals residing in Canada, the Andalusian Cultural Salon in Montreal, Canada.

Samih Masoud published many articles, research papers, and critical and economic studies in a number of Arab and international magazines and newspapers, such as the London-based Al-Hayat newspaper , the Kuwaiti Banks magazine, the Oil and Arab Cooperation magazine issued by the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) in Kuwait , and the Arab Future magazine issued by the Center for Arab Unity Studies in Beirut .
