Qadri Hafez Toukan is an Arab thinker, writer and politician. He was born in the city of Nablus in 1910 and died in Beirut on the 26th of February 1971. He is considered one of the leading figures of Arab thought in the twentieth century.
He graduated from the American University of Beirut in 1929 with a BA in Mathematics, and in 1964 he was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan, and in 1965 he was appointed Director of the An-Najah National College. The Future” and “Between Survival and Extinction”.
Qadri Toukan, according to Dr. Yahya Abdel Raouf Jabr, professor of Arabic language at An-Najah National University, is one of three Levantines known for their scientific excellence in the modern era, and for their great efforts in serving Arab science and scientific heritage, and the other two are Omar Farroukh and Jamil Saliba. The three were largely interested in unveiling the contribution of Muslims - and Arabs among them - to the progress of mankind, and the foundation of various sciences for many centuries, starting from the eighth century AD to the end of the seventeenth century.
