Information
Hussein Muhanna, a Palestinian poet and writer, born in 1945 AD in the village of Al-Baqee’ah, writes vertical and developed poetry because he confirms that the development of the Arab poem is not imported, based on theories that do not fit the Arab taste, but rather it is a modern construction on a solid (old) foundation, just like the branch’s relation to the stem. . As for prose, he writes the short story, the essay, and the literary text known today as (the prose poem). His poetry ranges between national and sentimental issues, away from chauvinism and national superiority, due to his belonging to Marxist thought. And women in his poetry have a large share, as he dedicates his poems to the mother, the wife, the daughter, and the woman in general. Known as the poet of love and homeland, Hussein Muhanna emphasizes that the remaining poem is the poem that conveys to the reader the sincerity of feeling, it is the clear poem far from complexity, without compromising the artistry of poetry. The lyricism in the Arabic poem, which poets began to distance themselves from, is the true identity, and the distinguishing mark of our literature among peoples’ literatures.. As for its language, it is the product of what he draws from the books of Arab heritage, and from modern Arab and international literature.
his life
He was born in the village of Al-Baqi'ah in 1945 AD. He was born to poor peasant parents (Fendi and Zaida) and his father, Sheikh Fendi Muhanna, between three sisters (Badi'ah, Ishtiaq and Tamimah), but they were able to provide him with the possibility of continuing his paid secondary education in the village of Al-Rama, adjacent to his village. After that, he was not able (financially) to achieve university, so he was satisfied with self-education, as the Arab library is full of what is delicious for the mind and the heart, and it is the first and last university for the Arab intellectual, as he says. He writes poetry, short stories and literary articles. He is married to (Munira), father of five daughters and two sons (Nabila, Nawal, Souad, Rashid, Zayda, Ahlam, Fendi). Despite harassment by the Israeli authorities, he worked as an Arabic and English language teacher in the middle school of his village. He took early retirement in 1992 for health reasons. In his primary studies, he learned Arabic at the hands of the poet Muneeb Makhoul, and at the hands of Professor Hanna Fares Makhoul, a student of the pioneering writer and educator Khalil Sakakini. In high school, he received it at the hands of the poet Shakib Jahshan. His friend, the resistance poet Salem Gibran, had Mahmoud’s role in supporting him by publishing his literary works in the magazine (Al-Ghad), which he headed the editor-in-chief, as well as in the Al-Jadeed magazine and the Haifa newspaper. Saber) deceived the Israeli Ministry of Education, in which he worked as a teacher in its schools, and which prohibited its employees from dealing with the newspapers of the Israeli Communist Party because it saw them as hostile newspapers. Indeed, he was also affiliated with the aforementioned party until 1994.
Positions and jobs
Hussein Muhanna did not covet any position except to remain loyal to his country, his students and his society, and to remain light on the hearts of his readers. To read alone and write alone and leave what I write for the days. Or his true honor, and he sees that the Palestinian Ministry of Culture has chosen for him the poem (I See), so it has been included in the curriculum, and taught to the tenth grades in the schools of the State of Palestine.
