Mutlaq Abdel-Khaleq (1910 - 1937), one of the pioneers of Palestinian poetry, veteran of the national, national and class issues of their people. His poems and opinions were considered of great value and impact in spreading political and national awareness among the Palestinian popular sectors.
His life and upbringing
Mutlaq was born in Nazareth in 1910. He lived and taught there until he joined the Rawdat al-Maaref College in Jerusalem. After his graduation, he moved to Haifa, where he worked in the press. He headed the editor-in-chief of some Arab newspapers in Haifa and Jaffa, such as “Al-Nafeer Newspaper” which was published by Suhail Zaki Zakka in Haifa, “The Straight Path” in Jaffa, owned by Sheikh Abdullah Al-Qalqily, and “The Defense Newspaper.” In Jaffa to its owner Ibrahim Shanti. Through his work in various newspapers, Mutlaq Abdel-Khaleq published his poems and soon turned into a literary science, then he worked as a teacher and was the director of one of the national schools. Mutlaq Abdel-Khaleq was a national, educational and literary figure who interacted with the Arab and Palestinian national concerns and against British colonialism.
Mutlaq began organizing poetry at an early age. He said poetry in flirtation, description, lamentation and homeland. His poetry readers say that his philosophy is pessimism, as psychological reflection, sad tone, political resentment, and incitement to revolution against injustice, oppression and colonialism can be touched in his poetry.

Mutlaq left behind several works and literary works, which are “The Doom of Death”, “The Departure”, “Thoughts and Pains”. After the death of the poet Mutlaq Abdul Khaleq, his brother Sobhi collected his poems scattered in newspapers and magazines in a diwan called Al-Rahil.

The poem “O Dawn” was published in the Scout magazine in its second issue in 1928:
O dawn, you have touched my longing
The heart was stinging with heartburn and agitation
Tomorrow the full moon urges travelers
And I saw the stars wishing for a separation
And the birds looked over the branches!...
Menna.. be gentle, dawn. I increased my moaning, and the sorrows and sorrows raged..
Where is that crescent? Where is Samana? ** Where are those stars telling Al-Jamana?
Where is my age, Fajr.. Where are my years?

In the poem ((Memorandum)), Mutlaq addresses the traditional leaders conspiring against the interests of the Palestinian Arab people, and says in a voice filled with anger:
A few days ago, you submitted a memorandum ** to the government, O people (leaders).
I wish we knew what he embroiders ** of the meanings and the lofty expressions
I wish we didn't know what we gathered and collected ** solutions to keep the darkness away
Slow you down, do not blame us, we are human beings ** from the dust and you are from the heavens
