After perseverance and determination that lasted for many years, Ruba Abdel Hadi (29 years old) maintained her childhood dream of arriving at a way in which she could obtain the international fashions she desired “as quickly as possible,” a dream that has developed over the past few years into a project that provides service to thousands. Ladies instead of their own service.
With the spread of social networking sites and modern means of communication via the Internet, companies have emerged on pages and websites that play the role of intermediary and facilitate shopping and purchasing processes, but these means face challenges, most notably the weak confidence of the shopper in these mechanisms.
Ruba says: “While I was in the United States of America, the idea of purchasing and home delivery via the Internet was one of the most beautiful things I encountered, so I thought of transferring the experience to Jordan.”
In fact, after obtaining a master’s degree in business administration from the United States of America, Ruba opened a website called “Moda,” which she runs herself and is assisted by 7 girls.
She added: “During a year and a half after my return to Jordan, I worked on the “Moda” project, which specializes in marketing luxury fashion through an online social platform for the Middle East, and providing services in the form of an electronic magazine.”
The company provides the opportunity to shop online for fashion provided by distinguished designers from Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, or Paris. The company ships and delivers purchases to the Middle East 24 hours a day and every week, and it is one of several pioneering projects embraced by the Oasis 500 project.
After a year and a half, the new idea of Ruba won a prize worth 10 thousand dinars from Bank al-Etihad as the most promising company, out of 30 companies that applied for the award.
Ruba points out that receiving the prize amounting to 10 thousand dinars will help her develop the project, so that the magazine will be translated into Arabic in addition to the English language in which it is currently published online.
Ruba’s ambition does not stop at the award, and in this she says, “I aspire for my company to be one of the first companies in online companies in the Arab world.”
The Bank Al Etihad Award for Small and Medium Enterprises is an initiative by the Bank that aims to honor entrepreneurs and celebrate their achievements based on the Bank’s commitment to supporting the entrepreneurial movement, creative youth and building a bright Jordan, and within three independent categories that include the Best Small or Medium Company Award with an amount of 25 thousand dinars, and the Business Woman Award with an amount of 25 thousand dinars. 25 thousand dinars, and the promising company award worth 10 thousand dinars.
The Ruba Abdul Hadi project is classified as a small and medium enterprise, which has been the focus of the government’s attention due to its potential ability to provide job opportunities, as the potential of small and medium enterprises is estimated to secure about 60% of the total job opportunities, while small and medium enterprises play an important role in the private sector in particular.
