Suleiman Jacir (1908 - 1992) is a Palestinian businessman who served as mayor of Bethlehem from 1948 to 1959, known for his charitable work in the Bethlehem area of the West Bank .
His life
Suleiman Youssef Ibrahim Jasser was born into a Palestinian Christian family , and began his career in the early 1930s as a partner in his family's construction and trading company. Later, he founded his own company, which became one of the largest contracting companies in Palestine. He also invested in lands and real estate and owned several properties in the Bethlehem area. Jacir devoted himself to helping the poor and needy in his community. He founded several charities , including: the Sulaiman Jacir Charitable Fund, which provides financial assistance to needy families, and the Jacir Palace Hotel , which provides job and training opportunities for local residents.
His death
Jacir died in 1992, but his legacy of philanthropy and community service lives on through the work of the Suleiman Jacir Charitable Fund, which continues to provide support to underprivileged families in Bethlehem and surrounding areas.
