leading member of the Palestine Arab Party, appointed secretary of the Arab Higher Committee in June 1936 before being deported to the Seychelles Islands (1937) by the British for his political activities; attended, as secretary, the 1939 London Conference, St. James' Palace; rejected the White Paper proposal.
In the 1940s Managing Director of the Palestine-based Al-Mashriq Financial Investment Company Ltd. and consultant to the Arab Bank; moved his company after the 1948 war to Beirut and Amman and from there expanded throughout the Middle East.
