Abdul Bari Barakat was born in 1887, in the city of Jerusalem. Educated at al-Azhar al-Sharif, Cairo; graduated in 1931. Worked as a tradesman, he succeeded and enriched; founder of the Chamber of Commerce. He joined the national movement in 1936, and had a major role in the great strike of six months continued in Palestine length and width, and because of this influential activity he was arrested for six months by the British authorities.
After al-Nakba, he was displaced to Hebron. Died in 1954, buried in Jerusalem.
